Emraan Hashmi debunks rumors about Mehmood's role in the biopic
The actor sets the record straight on social media
Emraan Hashmi has officially
brushed off the criticism that he is all set to portray legendary actor and
comedian Mahmood in an upcoming biopic. The speed of these speculations
increased in the present, prompting the actor to address the problem
immediately.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Hashmi offered a clear and
concise explanation. He wrote: "Just to be clear, the reviews of me are
disapproving. I have not been approached about the film, nor am I."
Rumors Hashmi's
name in an independent Mehmood biopic is not the most effective and yet
legendary music composer R.D.
Moving the focus to ‘Awarpan 2’
While Hashmi slammed rumors heard about a project, fans have a big
show to look forward to. The actor will soon be seen inside the fantastically
anticipated sequel to his cult traditional Awarapan.
Directed with the help of Nitin Kakkar and produced through Vishesh
Films, Avrapan 2 is scheduled for a global theatrical release on August 14. The
film is a big step for Hashmi, who considers it as one of his most iconic
roles.
New faces and a darker chapter
The sequel has an attractive cast with the main star. Disha Patani
joins the series in a pace-heavy role as Zara, while veteran actress Shabana
Azmi takes a powerful stance as the antagonist in the film Nafisa.
Earlier this month, the makers unveiled the iconic trailer that
provides the audience with the premier complete study of Emraan Hashmi’s go
back as Shivam Pandit. The images hint at a dark, revenge-driven narrative
almost many years after the original film achieved cult status.
Return of Shivam Pandit
According to the commercial synopsis, the story takes place as an
alternate after the resurrection of Shivam in a Buddhist monastery. He tries to
navigate the delicate stability between redemption, love, and the inevitable
downward pull into the criminal underworld.
The makers captured the essence of the character's incredibly
charged comeback with the effective announcement: "Shivam Pandit is
back! Nineteen years after he first broke my heart and took on the
world, he returns with more pain, more anger and a cause that cannot be
stopped."
Written with the help of Bilal Siddiqui, Awrapan 2 is
offered through Mukesh Bhatt and Vishesh Films, and produced
through Vishesh Bhatt.
