Controversy over toxic

With just a week till the discharge of director Geetu Mohandas’s much-awaited gangster film Toxic, actor Yash’s enthusiasts are ecstatic as 2022’s KGF: Chapter 2 looks to be his first release. Many critics accused the film of sexualizing women and giving them many intimate scenes.

Yash has now immediately addressed those controversies, confirming that the film is only meant for individual audiences and insisting that the makers have cleared this up with the film's tagline: 'Fairytale for grown-ups'.

 

'Art should ask uncomfortable questions': On the toxic reaction to fame

Speaking at the AAP Ki Adalat, Yash elaborated his view and pronounced, "I think artworks should ask uncomfortable questions, take you to private corners of your thoughts. There you can face certain dilemmas, which very effective artworks can come up with an opportunity to address.

The actor also reiterated that Toxic is for adults only and is no longer meant for children under any circumstances.

Reply to Karnataka State Commission for Women

Yash further replied that the Karnataka State Commission for Women (KSWC) had written to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in protest against the alleged pornographic scenes in the teaser of Toxic.

"When humans watch the film, they assume that...women have often become taboo about talking about women's preferences. Only men are allowed to talk about such things. You have to keep in mind that the director of Toxic is a woman and believes that women have the right to their desires and fantasies."

He added: "The intention behind the curtain is clear and is done to advance important questions; Not for gimmicks. At the same time, cinema is similarly about comedy.

 

on his evolving views on intimate scenes

Even Yash addressed his earlier reaction of being almost scared at some stage in the intimate scenes, and admitted his private growth of the affair.
