second attack on Kapil Sharma's Canadian cafe

Hours after targeting comedian Kapil Sharma’s Cup’s Café for the second time in a month in Surrey, Canada, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the attack.

Audio recording details Clear threat

An audio recording, now fully accessible, gives Bishnoi gang member Harry Boxer the opportunity to take responsibility for the shooting openly. In the clip, the boxer says Sharma became a focus because of his relationship with Salman Khan, describing the celebrity as the “arch enemy” of his group.

The boxer warns that the group will not spare any Bollywood actor, filmmaker or producer who chooses to work with Salman. "Chief Harry Boxer, from the Lawrence Bishnoi group... These guys who have been shot at Kapil Sharma before and now, that's why it invited Salman Khan to the inauguration of the Netflix show."

He further threatens to disrupt Mumbai’s entertainment industry by promising a wave of fear. “If anyone worked with Salman Khan, he is responsible for his own death,” the boxer declared, ending the message with “Jai Shri Ram, Jai Balkari”.

Café centered twice a month

Kap’s Café first came under fire here on July 8, while the invaders set fire to the premises. The second attack occurred on August 7, exactly one month later. In each case, the Bishnoi faction took responsibility, citing that Kapil had missed their calls and warnings.

Security footage of the trendy incident shows an armed man or woman firing several rounds outside the restaurant. Reports indicate that the windows of the café were shattered by at least half a dozen bullets. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Kapil Sharma is yet to respond.

So in a way, Kapil Sharma did not release any official statement addressing the repeats or threats. The incidents have raised concerns about the safety of Indian celebrities abroad, especially in view of separate warnings from the public to the film industry.
