Maharashtra FDA Cracks Down on Celebrity Endorsements

FDA Chief Calls Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff

Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has said that superstar status will no longer protect Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff from regulatory movement. The 3 actors have been issued display-motive notices for their appearance in a Vimal Elaichi commercial.

Advertisement Amounts to Surrogate Promotion

According to the Maharashtra FDA, the commercial constitutes surrogate promoting of Vimal Pan Masala, a product that is prohibited in the state. The notices had been issued on August 11, giving the actors 15 days to reply.

Two Actors Respond, One Remains Silent

Mundhe confirmed that two of the three actors have replied to the notices, while one has now not yet spoke back. He did not discover which actor failed to respond. The FDA has already moved in advance with adjudication and prosecution lawsuits within the case related to the non-responding actor.

“Stars or Not, They Are Violators”

In an interview with NDTV, Mundhe made the FDA's position clear. According to you they will be stars, however consistent with me they are handiest advertisers in this example, he stated. So I am looking at them as violators of the regulation, and the regulation will take its own path. That's why we have began taking movement.
