Anurag Kashyap says he 'didn’t like' Vickay Kaushal's 'Chhaava'

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap revealed he is no longer in touch with Vicky Kaushal and disapproved of Kaushal’s film Chhaava. Kashyap also slammed Bollywood’s profit-driven mindset, calling it exploitative.

Acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has opened up about his strained equation with actor Vicky Kaushal and his disappointment with Kaushal’s recent release, Chhaava. Kashyap revealed that he is no longer in contact with the actor and admitted to watching only selective portions of the film—mainly the scenes featuring his frequent collaborator, Viineet Kumar Singh.

The director expressed his disapproval of Chhaava, suggesting that the movie failed to resonate with him. Beyond his critique of the film, Kashyap also reflected on his decision to step away from Mumbai, citing the changing dynamics of the Hindi film industry. According to him, Bollywood has increasingly shifted its focus toward financial gains over creativity, creating an atmosphere he described as “unappealing and exploitative.”

Kashyap, known for critically acclaimed films like Gangs of Wasseypur and Black Friday, has often been vocal about his discontent with mainstream Bollywood practices. His latest remarks underline his growing disconnection from the industry and his unwillingness to align with its current profit-driven culture.
