hospitals Bhumi Pednekar also appealed for nationwide assistance, calling for
donations of food, mattresses and hygiene essentials after the villages are
washed away.
The extent of the disaster
Assam is battling devastating monsoon floods, with the death toll
rising to 68. Despite some improvements, more than 700,000 people in five
districts remain affected and face prolonged displacement and hardship.
