The film’s worldwide performance has been one of its biggest highlights. By Day 9, its reported worldwide gross had reached ₹628.05 crore.

India net is the domestic collection after deducting applicable entertainment taxes. India gross includes those taxes, while worldwide gross combines the reported gross collections from India and overseas markets.

These figures represent trade-tracker estimates, not necessarily a final figure officially announced by the film’s makers.

Jailer 2 Beats the First Jailer’s Worldwide Collection

One of the major milestones for Jailer 2 is that it surpassed the reported lifetime worldwide gross of its 2023 predecessor within eight days of release.

According to India Today’s report published on October 23, Jailer had earned approximately ₹604.74 crore worldwide during its original theatrical run. Jailer 2 crossed that benchmark with a reported worldwide gross of ₹606.05 crore by Day 8.

Its worldwide total subsequently rose to ₹628.05 crore by Day 9, according to the latest reported figures.

This early milestone shows the continuing box office appeal of Rajinikanth. However, a film’s final commercial success also depends on its production and marketing costs, distributor revenue and the remaining theatrical run.

Why Did Jailer 2’s Daily Collection Decline?

The film opened strongly, collecting ₹59.70 crore net in India on Day 1. It also recorded strong earnings over its opening weekend.

Collections then declined during the second week. On Day 8, the film earned ₹17.15 crore net, followed by ₹14.50 crore on Day 9.

A decline after the opening weekend is common for theatrical releases. Initial fan interest, holidays, audience reviews, competing releases and weekday viewing patterns can all affect ticket sales.

The important question now is whether Jailer 2 can maintain a steady run over its second weekend. Updated figures will help show whether collections recover or continue to slow.

Jailer 2 Cast and Crew

Jailer 2 is directed by Nelson Dilip kumar and stars Rajinikanth in the lead role. The film also features Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vidya Balan, Jackie Shroff and other familiar faces. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar also return in cameo appearances.

Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for the sequel, reuniting with Rajinikanth and Nelson after the first film.

The story follows Tiger Muthuvel Pandian as a new threat forces him to confront the criminal underworld again while trying to protect his family and legacy.

Is Jailer 2 a Box Office Hit?

The reported collection of ₹628.05 crores worldwide by Day 9 indicates a strong commercial run so far. The sequel has also moved past the reported lifetime worldwide collection of the first film.

However, its final box office verdict should not be based on worldwide gross alone. Production costs, promotional expenses, distributor shares and other commercial factors also matter. Without a verified budget and a confirmed final theatrical total, it is too early to make a definitive profit-based verdict.
