The makers of the much-anticipated thriller Haiwaan have formally announced the film’s release date, confirming that it will hit theaters on September 11, 2026. The announcement coincided with the unveiling of the film’s revered poster on social media.

 

A powerhouse reunion after 18 years

What elevates Haiwaan to one of the most talked-about theater events of the year is the large cast. The film marks the grand reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan on screen after almost 18 years of inauguration. The couple starred together in the 2008 walking comedy Tashan, making this collaboration a significant draw for audiences.

Priyadarshan enters the cave area

Leading the charge is veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, a skilled storyteller known for his impeccable comic timing. With Haiwaan, he shifts gears dramatically, shifting away from his signature comedic expression to craft a gritty, high-octane thriller that promises to keep visitors on the threshold of their seats.

 

A stellar ensemble cast

Beyond a pair of standing leads, Haiwaan boasts an outstanding ensemble lineup. The scammers include Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, Kajol, Bobby Deol, Boman Irani and Jisshu Sengupta. Malayalam cinema legend Mohanlal turns out to be making a much-anticipated cameo appearance in the film.

Director Priyadarshan, who confirmed reports of Mohanlal’s involvement, shared his philosophy on the role in an exclusive interview with entertainnews.net.

 

Explaining his filmmaking process, he said, "Look, every chance I do a film, the story excites me. I don't think about actors in any way. First is usually the script. Then the actor follows. I can't say, 'I will do a film with Mohanlal and Akshay Kumar in that way.' a script, so came behind the right fast, that's the right y to make a film, which I have never followed a celebrity to make a film.
